Ganesha invocation - Siddhi Shakti, Vedic Mantra

Mantra Meditation, Mantra Invocations

Mantras, ancient sound vibrations imbued with profound spiritual significance, offer a transformative pathway to mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Rooted in traditions that span thousands of years, the practice of mantra chanting or meditation is much more than a spiritual ritual—it’s a scientifically supported tool for inner transformation.

At the core of mantra practice lies its ability to activate the body’s subtle energy systems, including inner meridian points, which are vital pathways in traditional energy medicine. These meridian points, when harmonised through the rhythmic repetition of a mantra, help to unblock stagnant energy, fostering a sense of balance and vitality.

How the Mantras Are Written – The International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST)

The International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST) is a widely accepted system for accurately representing Sanskrit and other Indic languages in the Latin script. It uses diacritical marks—such as macrons (ā, ī, ū) and dots (ṇ, ṭ, ḍ, ś, ṣ)—to preserve the precise pronunciation and phonetic distinctions of the original Devanagari script. These marks are crucial because Sanskrit is a highly phonetic language where small variations in sound can alter meanings significantly.

When you see the mantras written with dots and dashes, remember you a reading a code, not English, that will give you the key to being able to produce the sound with more accuracy, and therefore to invoke the power of the vibration within your body. At times we have also included how the mantra might be written in a common phonetic Westernised form for your reference. However you are encouraged to open your awareness and see how the felt sense of the mantra changes your direct experience as you become more familiar with the distinction in the Sanskrit sounds.

Invocations – Mantra Examples

An invocation in mantra sets the energetic tone and sacred intention for the practice. It is a conscious call to align with higher energies, deities, or aspects of inner wisdom, creating a container of reverence and focus. The purpose is to open the space with respect and clarity, inviting in divine presence or guidance while grounding the practitioner in the present moment. With intention, the vibration of the mantra becomes a bridge between the physical and the subtle, enhancing the potency of the sound and deepening the connection to self and spirit. Below is a list of mantras that might be used for different invocations in the practice of mantra chanting.

Invoking Gaṇeśa (Ganesha)
Before we invoke any planetary mantra, we always call upon Lord Gaṇeśa (Ganesha). This is done in most mantra practice. The elephant headed god, son of Śakti (Shakti) and destroyer of obstacles is also the lord of time, karma and calculation. As such he is the main deity (though some see this as Nārāyaṇa – “God in humanity, incarnate Divinity”). So before we do any work in this field, we call upon Gaṇeśa to help us.

Gaṇeśa
Oṁ gaṁ Gaṇapataye namaḥ (om gam ganapataye namaha)

I bow to the leader of the ganas (divine beings), the one who is the essence of Gaṇeśa (Ganesha).

Śantipāṭh
saha nā vavatu saha nau bhunaktu
saha vīryam karavāvahai
tejasvināvadhītamastu mā vidviṣāvahai

This is a beautiful peace mantra that invokes harmony, protection, and unity between teacher and student. It sets the tone for cooperative learning, mutual respect, and shared spiritual growth, cultivating an energy of peace, clarity, and collective purpose. It is often invoked at the beginning of a course of study.

Gaṇapati Prārthana
gaṇānām tvā gaṇapatigṁ havāmahe kaviṁ kavīnāmupamaśravastam
jyeṣṭharājam brahmaṇāṁ brahmaṇaspata ā naḥ śṛṇvannūtibhissīda sādanam
praṇo devī sarasvatī vājebhirvājinīvatī
dhīnāmavitryavatu gaṇeśāya namaḥ
sarasvatyaī namaḥ | śrī gurubhyo namaḥ | hariḥ oṁ
oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ

This Vedic mantra originating in the Rig Veda is a sacred invocation to Lord Gaṇeśa (Ganesha) whose name Gaṇapati means “Lord of the Ganas” or “Lord of the Groups,” referring to his role as the leader of divine beings. The word Prãrthana translates to “prayer” or “invocation,” and this chant is traditionally offered to Gaṇeśa—the remover of obstacles and the embodiment of wisdom—before beginning any significant activity or ceremony. Drawing from ancient Vedic texts, such as the Rig Veda, the prayer honors Gaṇeśa’s role in clearing the path ahead and guiding devotees toward success and clarity.

This prayer also invokes Goddess Sarasvatī, the deity of knowledge, speech, music, and the arts. Her presence in the chant calls forth clarity of thought, eloquence, and creative inspiration—especially important for learning, teaching, and all forms of communication. By invoking both Gaṇeś and Sarasvatī, the Gaṇapati Prãrthana harmonises the energies of wisdom, expression, and spiritual guidance. Commonly recited at the start of yoga classes, spiritual gatherings, and rituals, it sets a positive and auspicious tone, inviting blessings, protection, and focused intention.

Clear Your Energy Field And Aura, Siddhi Shakti

Chakra Cleansing, Energy Clearing: Uplift Your Vibration, Strengthen Your Energy Field

Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt heavy, drained, or uneasy? Or perhaps you’ve spent time with someone and afterward felt exhausted or emotionally unsettled? These experiences are often the result of negative energy affecting your vibration and energy field.

Understanding Energy and Vibration

Everything in the universe is energy, including our thoughts, emotions, and physical bodies. We each have an energy field, often referred to as an aura, which surrounds and interacts with the environment and people around us. Our personal vibration is the frequency at which our energy resonates, and it can be high, low, or anywhere in between.

High vibrations are associated with feelings of love, joy, peace, and vitality. Low vibrations, on the other hand, correspond with emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, and stress. The energy we carry and absorb influences our overall well-being, which is why managing our vibration is essential for maintaining harmony and health.

How Negative Energy Affects Us

Negative energy can come from various sources, including:

  • People: Individuals who constantly complain, criticise, or carry unresolved anger can emit low vibrational energy that affects those around them;
  • Environments: Cluttered, chaotic, or historically charged places (such as hospitals or old buildings with emotional residue) can hold stagnant energy that impacts our own frequency;
  • Our Own Thoughts and Emotions: Self-doubt, negative self-talk, and dwelling on past traumas can lower our vibration and create an internal energy drain;
  • Chronic Stress and Negativity: San weigh us down and make it easier for other negative experiences to attach to us;
  • Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMFs): Prolonged exposure to EMFs from electronic devices, Wi-Fi, and power lines has been linked to disruptions in human energy fields. Many people report symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, poor sleep, and increased stress levels. While research is ongoing, reducing EMF exposure through grounding techniques, EMF shielding, and mindful technology use can help support overall well-being;
  • What Are You Ingesting?: Not just in terms of are you putting good quality high energy fuel into your body such as purified water and pesticide and chemical free food, cosmetics and cleaning products, but what are you ingesting with your senses. Constant consumption of negative messaging and imagery from social platforms and mainstream media has an effect on our sense of wellbeing. Taking your power back from this kind of addiction to endless doom scrolling and consumption of negativity can make a significant shift to your inner landscape.

When We Are Exposed To Or Carry Negative Energy, We May Experience:

  • Physical fatigue or tension
  • Emotional instability, such as mood swings or anxiety
  • Mental fog, confusion, or a lack of motivation
  • Disruptions in our sleep patterns
  • A sense of being overwhelmed, stuck, sense of dread, or heaviness
  • Feeling drained by interactions with others
  • Lack of flow, constant obstacles

When Your Energy Field Is Strong

When your personal energy is in harmony, you’re more likely to naturally experience:

🌟 Clearer Thinking & Emotional Resilience: Decision-making feels easier, and emotional ups and downs are more manageable.

🛡️Less Impact from Negative Influences: You feel less drained by difficult people or stressful situations, maintaining your inner peace.

🌊 A Life of Flow & Alignment:  Things seem to fall into place effortlessly, with more synchronicities and uplifting encounter.

🔮 Heightened Inner Guidance & Awareness: Your intuition strengthens, allowing you to navigate life with deeper insight and confidence.

Ways to Protect and Elevate Your Energy Field

To maintain a high vibration and protect yourself from negative energy, consider these practices:

1. Energy Clearing: Smudging with sage or taking a salt bath can help clear energetic blockages to support and cleanse your aura.

2. Grounding Techniques and Nature: Walking barefoot on the earth, deep breathing exercises, forest bathing and meditation help stabilise your energy field.

3. Emotional Awareness: Be mindful of your thoughts and emotions. Shift negative patterns by practicing gratitude, affirmations, or journaling.

4. Protective Visualisation: Envisioning yourself surrounded by a protective light or energy shield can help deflect negative influences.

5. Conscious Interactions: Choose to spend time with people who uplift and inspire you, and set boundaries with those who drain your energy.

6. Sound Healing: Sound Yoga, Mantra,  and Kīrtan can help us reattune to higher vibrations. You could also explore Tibetan bowls or tuning forks to experience a shift in inner resonance.

7. Energy Healing: A trained practitioner, drawing on Universal energy can help with chakra cleansing and aura cleansing, removing energetic debris from your chakras and energy body to help you feel lighter and freer and to strengthen your protective shield or aura energy.

8. The Memory Resolution Technique: healing from past wounds and traumatic memories and free your subconscious from carrying the boulders of your past.

Energy Is Contagious

Our vibration is constantly interacting with the world around us. By recognising the effects of negative energy and taking steps to protect and elevate our frequency, we can cultivate a state of balance, resilience, and well-being.
Awareness and intentional practices allow us to align with our highest vibration, creating a more harmonious and empowered life.

Your energy is precious, one of your greatest assets. You have more capacity to take charge of your energy that you might realise. You don’t have to let external forces shape your emotions, thoughts, or path.

Protect it, nurture it, and watch your life transform.

learn the Gayatri Mantra with Siddhi Shakti

The Gayatri Mantra, written as ‘Gāyatrī’ when transliterated, is one of the most revered and powerful mantras in Hindu tradition. Known for its profound spiritual significance, this mantra is often called the “Mother of all Mantras” or “Mantra of the Sun.” It is a prayer for inner illumination, guiding the practitioner to a deeper connection with the light of divine wisdom. It is a mantra that holds the key to unlocking the full potential of one’s consciousness, helping to dispel ignorance and bring clarity of mind.

Meaning of the Gayatri Mantra

The Gayatri Mantra is a prayer of deep reverence and meditation. It invites the light of the divine to illuminate our intellect and guide our hearts and minds toward wisdom. In essence, it is a prayer for spiritual awakening.

IAST Transliterated Version

The Gāyatrī Mantra in the IAST (International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration) system is as follows:

Oṁ Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ
Tat Savitur Vareṇyaṁ
Bhargo Devasya Dhīmahi
Dhiyo Yo Nāḥ Prachodayāt.

This transliteration allows for an accurate representation of the mantra’s sacred Sanskrit syllables, helping practitioners preserve the sound and power of the mantra as it was originally intended. It ensures that each sound is recited with precision, enhancing the transformative power of the mantra.

Oṁ Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ – The Great Utterance

The first line of the mantra: Oṁ Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ is said to be ‘the great utterance’ by Brahmā at the beginning of creation, and is always used with the mantra.

Translation:
“We meditate on the divine light of the Supreme Being, who permeates the earth, the atmosphere, and the heavens. May this divine light inspire and illuminate our intellects.”

At its core, the Gayatri Mantra is an invocation to the divine light (often associated with the sun) to illuminate our inner being. It is a request for the purification of the mind, body, and spirit, fostering clarity and awareness. It connects us to the greater consciousness of the universe, drawing us closer to the light of truth.

The Meter of Timing – “Gayatri”

The Gayatri Mantra is also named after its meter, known as “Gayatri.” In ancient Sanskrit poetry, “Gayatri” refers to a specific rhythmic structure that consists of 24 syllables divided into three lines of eight syllables each. This rhythm creates a harmonious flow, allowing the mantra to be chanted in a meditative cadence, aligning the body and mind with the divine energy. The precise meter aids in the smooth passage of energy during recitation, making it especially powerful.

Origins of the Gāyatrī Mantra

The Gāyatrī Mantra is attributed to Sage Vishvamitra, one of the great rishis (sages) of ancient India. According to tradition, Sage Vishvamitra, through intense meditation and spiritual discipline, received the Gāyatrī Mantra as a divine revelation. He is said to have transmitted this mantra to his disciples, who passed it down through generations. The mantra’s potency is said to be magnified by its direct connection to the divine wisdom received by Sage Vishvamitra.

Learn the Gāyatrī Mantra

Learning any mantra is a deeply personal journey, and it’s best approached with mindfulness and respect for its spiritual significance. Chanting the Gāyatrī Mantra with accurate timing, breath, and pronunciation allows you to experience the full effect of this ancient prayer.

To chant the mantra effectively, begin by sitting in a comfortable position with your spine straight and your breath steady. You can either chant silently or aloud, focusing on the sound and meaning of each syllable. Pay attention to the following key elements:

Timing: Each of the 24 syllables should be pronounced in a rhythmic, consistent flow. Practice with a slow pace and gradually increase speed while maintaining clarity.
Breath: Coordinate your breath with the chant, ensuring that you breathe in deeply before each chant and exhale gently as you utter each syllable.
Pronunciation: Mantra is more powerful when pronounced correctly. Pay careful attention to the subtle sounds of each syllable to honor the integrity of the mantra. If you’d like to know more about this please get in touch to discuss mantra coaching with me.

Whether you chant it for a few minutes in the morning or incorporate it into your daily meditation practice, this mantra  can help you tap into a wellspring of divine energy, guiding you on your spiritual path.

Learn yoga of Sound and mantra, Siddhi Shakti

Learn mantra and change your world! Mantra practice is a transformative journey that opens the door to deeper soul connection and spiritual awakening. I recall one student who, after a few weeks of consistent chanting, shared how it helped them release long-held emotional blocks and experience a newfound sense of inner peace and clarity. This ancient art, rooted in many of the world’s great spiritual traditions, is a gateway to inner peace, personal growth, and higher consciousness.

What Is a Mantra?

At its core, a mantra is a sacred sound, word, or phrase repeated to focus the mind and harness the energy of cosmic vibrations. This practice goes beyond mere words; it taps into the profound power of sound to heal, transform, and elevate.

One of my favourite descriptions of mantra comes from the American Institute of Vedic Studies:

Mantra is the prime tool for developing consciousness using the power of cosmic sound vibration, out of which consciousness creates and sustains both body and mind. Mantras are seed powers of consciousness, through which consciousness can renew itself, deepen and move to a higher level. The more consciousness we give to the mantra, the more energized the mantra becomes, and the more a force of integration and well-being.

This quote encapsulates the essence of mantra practice—it’s a living, dynamic force that deepens our connection to ourselves and the universe.

The Transformative Power of Mantra Practice

Engaging in mantra practice has been one of the most life-changing experiences of my spiritual journey. The repetition of sacred sounds acts as a bridge to the soul, quieting the mind and awakening inner wisdom.

Through years of practice, I’ve discovered the joy of sharing this ancient art with others. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced practitioner, mantra practice offers endless opportunities for growth and transformation.

Why Proper Sanskrit Pronunciation Matters

When learning mantra, especially in Sanskrit, the correct pronunciation of sounds is crucial. Sanskrit is a vibrational language, and the power of its mantras lies in their precise articulation. Mispronunciations can dilute the energy and intention of the mantra.

Understanding the nuances of Sanskrit pronunciation—the five mouth positions, the timing of sounds, and the role of breath—can profoundly impact your mantra practice. Aligning with the authentic vibrations allows you to fully engage with the transformative power of these sacred sounds.

Siddhi Shakti Kirtan, Sacred Music, Sound Healing

Healing and Transformation Through Sound Yoga and Sacred Sound

In our busy, stress-filled lives, finding ways to bring peace, alignment, and healing to our bodies and minds is essential. One of the most powerful tools to achieve this is through sound—particularly sacred sound, filled with love, intent, and high vibrational energy. When used in the right way, sound has the ability to bring about deep change, healing, and transformation on multiple levels.

On a physical level, sound can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and support overall wellness. Spiritually, it opens the heart, lifts the spirit, and helps us connect with others and the greater field of life. By aligning our resonance and frequency with higher vibrations, we bring greater harmony between the body, mind, and spirit.

Sound Yoga: Nāda and Bhakti Yoga

The practice of sound yoga, including  nāda yoga and bhakti yoga, offers a path to wellness by guiding us in the formation of specific vocal sounds that carry numerous benefits. Nāda yoga, or the yoga of sound, helps us tap into the healing power of our authentic resonance, while Bhakti yoga connects us to the energy of devotion and love through sound.

By practicing sound yoga, we access deeper meditative states and unlock the potential of our voices to heal, expand, and align. This process is not just about sound itself but about creating a connection with the greater field that unites all of life.

The Benefits of Sound Yoga

1. Destress and Relax:
Sound yoga helps shift your nervous system from the sympathetic (fight or flight) into the parasympathetic (rest and digest) state. This shift promotes deep relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety.

2. Enhance Blood Flow and Immune Function:
Sacred sounds stimulate the release of nitric oxide, which supports improved blood circulation, enhanced lymphatic function, and even lowers blood pressure and heart rate. The result is a strengthened immune system and a more balanced body.

3. Induce Calm and Better Sleep:
Sound healing practices help calm the mind and promote a deeper, more restful sleep, allowing you to wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

4. Clear Your Mind with Mantra Meditation:
Mantra meditation, along with vocal exercises, can help still the mind, focus your thoughts, and elevate your energy. It’s a perfect practice for those seeking clarity and inner peace.

5. Activate Relaxation with Breathing and Movement:
Breathing techniques and gentle body movements complement sound practices, helping to enhance relaxation and stress relief.

6. Connect with Your Unique Resonance:
Each person has a unique vibrational frequency. Sound yoga helps you discover and align with your authentic resonance, deepening your connection with yourself and the universe.

7. Raise Your Vibration:
By engaging in sound practices that use high vibrational frequencies, you can shift your resting emotional state and cultivate a sense of joy and positivity.

8. Align Mind, Body, and Spirit:
Sound yoga offers a powerful tool to synchronise all aspects of your being, allowing you to live in greater harmony.

9. Cultivate Listening Awareness:
Listening to sound—whether your own voice, a mantra, or music—enhances your awareness and deepens your connection to the present moment.

10. Express Your Creative Essence:
Using your voice in sound yoga practices helps unlock your creative energy, empowering you to express yourself freely and authentically.

11. Build Connection and Community:
Sound yoga practices encourage community building and connection, breaking down barriers of race, gender, and age.

The Power of Chanting: Kīrtan

One of the most joyful and transformative practices in sound yoga is kīrtan, or call-and-response chanting. This group chanting experience is not only fun but incredibly powerful for raising our vibrational frequency. When we chant together, we harmonise our energies, lifting each other’s spirits and strengthening our bonds as a community. Kīrtan is remarkable effective in online settings, offering a sense of connection even when we are geographically apart.
